Candidates and the independent bi-national selection committee of the GERLS 8th Call for the academic year 2016/17.

The final selection interviews of the German Egyptian Research Long Term Scholarship (GERLS) 8th Call for the academic year 2016/17 took place from the 18th till 20th March 2016 at the premises of the DAAD Cairo Office.

76 candidates have been interviewed by distinguished independent bi-national selection committee and 27 candidates have been finally accepted.

The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHESR) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) are jointly calling for the long term PhD program “German Egyptian Research Long term Scholarship” (GERLS) for the 8th time. This collaboration is a continuation of the academic and scientific cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Federal Republic of Germany which has lasted for decades. The GERLS program is a successful outcome of the German-Egyptian Year of Science & Technology in 2007, reaching a success rate of 98%.

The GERLS program is offered for candidates, who desire to obtain or complete their PHD at one of the German Universities under the supervision of German professors. The program offers scholarships for young motivated doctoral candidates and researchers.
