Study trips are part of the DAAD Funded Scholarship "Study Seminars and Practical" which aims to exchange knowledge and experience between Egyptian and German students.
During the last call a group of 15 graduate and undergraduate students from the Architectural Engineering Department at "Misr Higher Institute of Engineering and Technology" in Mansoura leaded by architect Alaa El-Manzalawi and under supervision of Dr. Mohamed A. Khalil had visited there universities in Germany for 12 days from 13th to 24th of April 2016.
The group visited three German Universities in three cities; Brandenburg University of Technology Cottbus (BTU) in Cottbus, Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences (FRA-UAS) in Frankfurt am Main and Technische Universität Berlin - Zentralinstitut El Gouna in Berlin.
During the visit the group presented their project "A Future Vision for a Better Life in the Heart of Mansoura: Achieving Medley Integration between Urbanism and Quality of Life" and a series of lectures and seminars were conducted by both sides to discuss urban planning and urban regeneration practices in Germany and Egypt.
Furthermore, the trip had a cultural part as students visited different museums, galleries, monuments and city sightseeing oriented to architecture and planning to connect the academic experience with culture and leisure.
The study trip was a great opportunity for both Egyptian and German sides to share the experience and exchange information concerning the urban planning activities, education system and more important the cultural exchange.
The trip as whole was a story to be told by all participants and it already paved the way for most of them for future research activities.
