The German Science Centre Cairo (DWZ) together with the German Embassy and further German scientific and cultural institutions celebrated the Egyptian-German cooperation in all fields during a “German Week” in Upper Egypt.

From 19-22 November 2016, the DAAD, TU München, TU Berlin and Marburg University participated in the celebrations held in Luxor, Qena, Sohag and Minya that offered a great variety of workshops, presentations, exhibitions and panel discussions. “The German Week in Upper Egypt was the highlight of the year for the German organizations in Egypt, and also for the DWZ. We introduced our work to students, graduates and researchers to show them exciting aspects of German research and higher education,” said Dr. Roman Luckscheiter, Director of the DWZ.

The DWZ invited several German experts, scientists and university representatives, who gave lectures on the newest research and developments made in Germany, and the studying and research opportunities at their universities. The program varied between different disciplines and topics such as Water Research, River Bank Filtration, Energy, and Entrepreneurship. Furthermore, the DWZ displayed the technology exhibition of the German Energy Agency “Renewables made in Germany.”

Furthermore, the DAAD offered German Writing Classes in every city at the Departments of German Studies that received an outstandingly great response: approx. 100-150 students attended the workshops, where they – among other things – proudly presented self-written German poems.
