On the occasion of her 50th anniversary working at the DAAD Cairo Office, the DAAD has held an event in honor of Mrs. Aziza Hamdi, on Sunday, the 9th of October 2016, in the Marriott Hotel in Zamalek, Cairo.

After words of greeting by Dr. Roman Luckscheiter, director of the DAAD Cairo Office, and H.E. Mr. Julius Georg Luy, German Ambassador in Egypt, the Secretary General of DAAD, Dr. Dorothea Rüland, held a laudatory speech to Mrs. Aziza Hamdi to thank her for the excellent cooperation among the last 50 years as well as her active contribution to the DAAD Alumni Association in Egypt (DAV). Mrs. Hamdi is a DAAD alumna herself and worked as the deputy director of the DAAD Cairo Office for 40 years and until today continues to be in close contact with the DAAD and involved in many of its activities.

Her long-standing commitment to the DAAD was honored with a panel discussion entitled “5 Decades of Exchange with the German Academics” and moderated by Dr. Rüland. Besides Mrs. Hamdi, there were five participants in the panel, all of which were DAAD alumni and each from a different decade from the 1960s until 2000s.
