The Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MHESR) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) celebrated the awarding of the scholarship holders in the long-term program GERLS and the short-term program GERSS for the academic year 2017/18 at the Marriott Hotel in Zamalek on 8th of October 2017.
The festive event was to honor 10 years of successful cooperation between on the occasion of 10 years successful cooperation between MHESR and DAAD in the co-financed programs. The event took place in the presence of Prof. Dr. Essam Khamis, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, H.E. Mr. Julius Georg Luy, German Ambassador to Egypt and Dr. Dorothea Rüland, Secretary General of the DAAD.
“The co-financed programs have an impressive success rate, 434 researchers have been awarded the GERLS scholarship and 252 researchers have been awarded the GERSS scholarship over the last 10 years”, says Dr. Roman Luckscheiter, the Director of the DAAD Office in Egypt.
During the ceremony, the scholarship certificates handed over to 30 doctoral students from various disciplines within the GERLS program and 18 researchers within the GERSS program.The 10th GERLS Call for the academic year 2018/2019 is currently open.
