Within the framework of the Wafedin Scholarship programme which is funded by the Egyptian government and administrated by the DAAD, many new students from different universities in Germany started their studies in Cairo this October.

In order to welcome these students in Egypt and give them all necessary information about living and studying in Cairo, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) organized a Welcoming Evening on October 10th, 2017. The event was held in the Conrad Hotel in Cairo. It was attended by around 30 German students as well as university representatives from German and Egyptian universities and the Wafedin Office. Dr. Roman Luckscheiter, director of the DAAD Cairo Office addressed a welcome speech followed by a short introduction round, in which scholars were provided with useful information and advice on how to live and study in Egypt.

Before the end of the evening, Wafedin scholars watched a short movie about the Arabic language, produced by former Wafedin scholarship holders from the University of Marburg. The Wafedin new scholars had the change to listen and discuss previous experiences with the former scholarship holders and consult the university representatives with inquiries about university life and study formalities.
