© Michael Asaad

Which ‘wall’ will your research break? Pitch your innovative idea in just 3 minutes, showcasing a breakthrough that creates a positive impact on science and society.

Falling Walls Lab Cairo calls for talented researchers and professionals to showcase their most innovative ideas. Outstanding researchers, entrepreneurs and professionals can as of now apply for the Falling Walls Lab Cairo on 23 September 2020 to present their idea in 3 minutes. Applications must be submitted by 29 August 2020 – deadline extended!

In 2020, international Falling Walls Labs take place all over the world and call for the application of Bachelor and Master students, postdocs, young professionals, entrepreneurs and junior professors. Ground-breaking research projects, initiatives, ideas and business models from all disciplines are welcome.

The winner of the local Lab gets to attend Falling Walls Remote 2020 and increase their project’s global reach and visibility with a pitch video via the Falling Walls social media campaign sponsored by the DAAD Regional Office Cairo. In addition to that there are two more chances of winning: there will be an audience award in the form of a gift card for the online learning platform Udemy sponsored by the American University in Cairo (AUC) and the top three achievers are given the opportunity to join the TIEC accelerator program sponsored by the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Center (TIEC).

The Falling Walls Lab Cairo will take place on the 23 September 2020 at 7:00 PM. This year’s event will be slightly different to the Labs we have hosted before in Cairo: considering the recent developments regarding the corona virus pandemic (COVID-19/ SARS-CoV-2), we have decided to host our Lab in a virtual event. Therefore, the Falling Walls Lab Cairo will take place remotely with all jury members, participants and viewers attending the event online.

We are looking forward to receiving your application!

Application Procedure The application procedure includes two steps:

  1. Applications are made centrally on the Falling Walls Website.
  2. Application videos of  3 minutespresenting the idea or project, and showcasing the ability to present in English by one person (the presenter must be visible), are sent to falling-walls@daadcairo.org.
Please visit this forum to get some inspiration.Only complete application sets will be considered!

For more information about the format, please visit Falling Walls Website. You will find the report about last year’s event on the website of the DAAD Regional Office Cairo.
