Review on the ‘Proposal Writing Workshop Sudan’

The DAAD Regional Office Cairo organized on the 8th and 9th of April 2021 an online soft skill-event: ‘Proposal Writing Workshop Sudan’. The event days were classified into one workshop day for PHD Holder and one workshop day for PHD Candidates. The need of the two different academic groups were met by two well-respected trainers from the DAAD Kairo Academy (DKA).
The DAAD Regional Office Cairo seeks to strengthen and expand academic and research collaboration between Germany, Egypt and Sudan and to promote and support the exchange of academic knowledge and experience. The past event focused on capacity building and solemnly on interested academics from Sudan. In the recent past, fewer DAAD activities were carried out than preferred, yet the event depicted the interest to enable the exchange between Sudanese academics and researchers and the research landscape in Germany and to support the cooperation with German universities and research institutes. Therefore, the event with its capacity building module depicted the commitment and a further approach for potential collaboration of academia and research.
The workshop focused on techniques for scientific proposal writing since a well-written research proposal holds a crucial significance for an application for research funding. The participants were informed about the meaningfulness and appropriateness of sources and research studies; how to identify a research question and how to choose a research design and a methodology. The trainers were engaged in motivating the participants to actively participate in the workshop, to illustrate their research interests and to apply right away the hints and lessons given by the trainer.
