Design refers to products and processes in a cultural context. We use and surround ourselves with designed products and thus have an impact on our environment. How does the design of products and processes change when sustainability plays an increasingly important role?

What influence do traditional techniques and regional materials have? How does design education address the issue of sustainability and what impulses does it provide for young designers? These questions and other related valuable insights will be discussed based on joint empirical-experimental research projects between German University Cairo in Cairo and Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.

The aim of the Public Lecture is to introduce “Sustainable Design in an Intercultural Context” and exhibit a vivid example of project works and their documentation.
