The DAAD Cairo Office (German Academic Exchange Service) and its partners, in cooperation with the DAI (German Archaeological Institute) cordially invited curious guests to this year’s German Science Night on 24 May 2018 from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am.

++ Official opening at 9:00 pm at the Zamalek Cinema by H. E. Sönke Siemon, Deputy Head of Mission of the German Embassy Cairo and Dr. Roman Luckscheiter, Director of the DAAD Cairo Office ++

During the evening, visitors are invited to move freely between three locations:

Zamalek Cinema - 8:30 pm – 12:30 am

Scientific documentaries shown:

9:30 pm - Smart Cities – Building the Cities of Tomorrow, discussing how cities of the future should look like

10:30 pm - National Geographic Megafactories – Almarai exploring the largest integrated dairy company in the World

11:30 pm - Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz – The Last Universal Genius, whose discoveries made computers and the Internet possible

DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) - 9:00 pm – 2:00 am

The DAAD offers:

  • scientific short talks
  • science garden (real life and virtual experiments)
  • a conversation on science communication
  • information booths and sessions of German institutions

DAI (German Archaeological Institute) - 9:00 pm – 12:30 am

(31 Abu El-Feda Street, Zamalek)
The DAI offers:

  • scientific short talks
  • an exhibition on the DAI’s work and explorations in Egypt
  • a poster exhibition on museums and heritage sites in Egypt by students of the Helwan University
  • archaeological archive material movie screening

++ As the event is taking place during Ramadan, all visitors are invited to a joint Sohur starting at 1:00 am in the DAAD Cairo Office (11 El-Saleh Ayoub St., Zamalek). ++

  • no prior registration is required – however doors close at full capacity
