Several DAAD lecturers, specialized in German Studies/German as a foreign language, alongside long-term lecturers, are currently working at various universities in Cairo and Alexandria. In Sudan there is also one lecturer working in the field of German studies/German as a foreign language.
Meet the current DAAD lecturers:
Ain-Shams University, Faculty of Education
… has been a DAAD lecturer at the German Department of the Faculty of Education and at the “Center of Excellence for the Study and Research in German and Arabic as a Foreign Language” (EZ-DAAF) at Ain Shams University in Cairo since December 2019. She has many years of experience in teaching German as a foreign language as well as in training language teachers in master’s degree courses and has managed relevant institutions in Germany and abroad. In 1999 she received her doctor’s degree at the University of Dortmund in linguistics on the topic of university communication in the field of mechanical engineering. She was a research assistant at the University of Dortmund, a language teacher at the preparatory college of the ÖSW in Bochum, DAAD lecturer at the University of Helwan (Egypt), director of the Language and Culture Center at the GUC in Cairo, head of the DaF department and the Language Center at the TU Braunschweig as well as Dean of the School of Languages at the GJU in Jordan. Her areas of specialty include pragmatics, technical and scientific language as well as didactics and methodology of German as a foreign language.
Helwan University, Department of German Language and Literature (Faculty of Arts)
Manuel Junge studied from 2007 to 2012 German Language and Literature and History at Osnabrück University (B.A., M.Ed., Lehramt an Gymnasien), German as a Foreign and Second Language at the University of Kassel (distance learning certificate, 2011–2012) and International Development Studies at Wageningen University (Netherlands, 2010/2011). In 2021 he was awarded a PhD (Dr. phil.) by the School of Language and Literary Studies at Osnabrück University (Der Islam in deutschen Lesebüchern 1935–1964/65, Ergon, 2022).Manuel Junge worked as a DAAD language assistant at the College of Arts and Social Sciences at Sultan Qaboos University in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman (2012–2013), as a language instructor at interDaF am Herder-Institut at Leipzig University (2013/2014) and as a research associate at the Department of German Language and Literature at Osnabrück University (2014–2020). Since October 2020 Manuel Junge has been holding the position of a DAAD lecturer at the Department of German Language and Literature (Faculty of Arts) at Helwan University in Cairo.

Alexandria University, Faculty of Science
… has been a DAAD Lecturer at the Faculty of Science at the Alexandria University since September 2018. She studied German, German as a Foreign and Second Language and Fine Arts at the University of Kassel, where she worked as a research assistant at the department of German as a Foreign and Second Language from 2016-2018. Her academic teaching focused on study-related and preparatory German training, multilingualism didactics and literacy in German as a second language. In addition, she worked in the field of teacher training, as a German trainer for studyable refugees and as an art mediator in context of contemporary art exhibitions.
